Weldon Library Revitalization, Western University

The first phase of work to revitalize the brutalist 1967 Weldon Library (originally designed by John Andrews) introduces a variety of new learning environments and improves students’ access to natural light and fresh air, while maintaining the intent the original architectural vision.

Originally designed as a print repository, the collections are relocated to higher density shelving zones, allowing prime real estate near windows and skylights to be used for student study, collaboration, and various types of gatherings for the university community.

The building was photographed in spring 2022 and has since been featured in Architectural Record, Interior Design Magazine, The Globe and Mail, The Architect’s Newspaper, among others.
