Aga Khan Museum
When a landmark museum was bestowed upon Toronto, there was great excitement over the prospect of what might be realized on the site. Upon opening in 2014, the museum designed by Fumihiko Maki & Associates in association with local architects Moriyama & Teshima, along with a surrounding garden designed by acclaimed Lebanese landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic, has lived up to the high expectations for the site.
Designed to house the permanent collection of Islamic art and objects assembled by the Aga Khan and to facilitate rotating temporary exhibits, the museum also provides space for community & educational programming.
I was commissioned in 2014 to photograph the new museum and gardens and have returned on a few occasions to document significant exhibitions mounted within the gallery spaces.
