Clark Hill House
After a fire destroyed a recently renovated historic home in Clark Hill, a quiet neighbourhood outside Boston, the owners saw the tragedy as an opportunity to explore a contemporary language, while respecting the scale of the surrounding neighbourhood.
While the home’s spaces are vertically stacked to fit within a tight site, generous roof overhangs extend horizontally to connect the home to the surrounding gardens by framing views of the forest, and creating a variety of protected outdoor spaces.
Clad in stone, wood, and glass, the material palette is restrained but the detailing of those materials is given great consideration.
This home was photographed over two days in the summer of 2016.
