Ravine Guest House

A guest house and reflecting pool set deep within a Toronto ravine near Don Mills, photographed through 2018-2019, having weathered and matured within its landscape for 15 years.

Widely published after it was first completed, these images depict the architectural object and its surrounding landscape as equally deserving subjects.

There is always a rush to photograph buildings immediately after completion. These assignments to document a work after the landscape has come into its own, are rare opportunities that I cherish.

The resulting images suggest usage and inhibition over the years as materials weather, patina and slowly age in situ.
