Copps Pier Park

This new park on Copps Pier in Hamilton is the first phase of work to be realized in the redevelopment of a decommissioned industrial pier along the city’s waterfront. A series of programmed areas are linked together with existing park paths at either end to create a landscaped promenade, an outdoor ampiheather under the old crane structure, and a sandy ‘beachfront’.

Each zone is caressed by sweeping curves of weathered steel that help to provide a sense of enclosure for various uses, and enabling changes in grading across the park.

The project was photographed in summer 2022 and has won a Hamilton Urban Design Award and a CSLA Award.
