Garden Pavilion and Reflecting Pool

A weathering steel pavilion nestled in a forested ravine site, photographed within its matured landscape in 2019, nearly 30 years after the project's original completion.

Some views recreate those previously shot by photographer Raymond Koch, others are intended to show the project slowly weathering within the landscape.

Concrete edges have begun to soften, retaining walls have adopted the hues from the leaves, lichens and rains that have crept across their porous surfaces, and the weathering steel canopy has deposited some trace amounts of oxidized steel onto the surrounding surfaces.

There is a beauty in these imperfections that only time can create.
