Oak Ridges Library
Designed to replace an older branch that was camouflaged within a suburban strip mall, the new Oak Ridges Library positions the branch as an active, welcoming space for community that sees the role of the library as much more than a repository of books.
Generous amounts of glazing provide views both into and out from the library and the use of a wood glulam structure is complemented by horizontally striated natural stone - materials that are meant to evoke a sense of history and to recall the traditional agricultural structures of the region.
These images were shot in 2019 and 2021 on two visits to the librar.
