COPS Donuts

An old machine repair shop in Leslieville has been transformed into the east end’s newest donut shop.

The industrial character of the space was intentionally retained - according to the architects:

“Their rich textures, exposed structures, and large openings result in beautiful daylit spaces. There was an obvious parallel between the absorptive nature of the historic masonry textures and the rich textures of the doughnuts that would replace its industrial nature.”

Unique details throughout the space are connected to the donut making that takes place within - mortar joints ooze like overflowing icing, stucco wall finishes evoke a creaminess frozen in time, and screens of polycarbonate dotted with circular lights take visitors into a dreamlike state.

The project was photographed in 2022 and has been featured by Nuvo Magazine and Designlines, among others.
